Growing up in Newham, East London, Alfa Mist began his musical journey as a grime and
hiphop producer. The self- taught pianist and sometimes rapper soon found himself drawn to the jazz, world music and film soundtracks he discovered through sampling. His sound blends melancholy jazz harmony with alternative hip-hop and soul.
His recently released second album ‘Antiphon’ has pushed him forward in the new jazz scene as one to watch following the warm reception of his first record ‘Nocturne’ which featured the likes of Tom Misch and Jordan Rakei.

Express è un festival nato nel 2007 in contemporanea con l’apertura del Locomotiv. L’obiettivo del festival è selezionare in una rassegna annuale una serie concerti dall’alto profilo qualitativo e dal respiro internazionale.
Giunto alla dodicesima edizione, la rassegna 2019 si svilupperà in quattro appuntamenti:
giovedì 28.11 SEUN KUTI & EGYPT 80, sabato 30.11 C’MON TIGRE, martedì 3.12 GRANDMASTER FLASH e in ultima venerdì 6.12 ALFAMIST

Express ha in precedenza ospitato (in varie locations a Bologna): Savages, Bombino, Sunn O ))) , Jamie Lidell, FourTet, Caribou, Anna Calvi, Thee Silver Mt Zion Memorial Orchestra, These New Puritans, Wild Beasts, James Blake, Bombino, Omar Souleyman, Mulatu Astatke, Tortoise, Psychic Tv, Women, Tycho, Coldcut, Carla Dal Forno, Lamb, !!!
